Over 250 specialists from various countries conduct research related to the conservation of marine mammals and present it at the conference. As a rule, these are representatives of organizations from Russia, Ukraine, USA, Canada, Norway, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Iran, and Japan.

Since 2000, the conference, which is held every two years, has become the most important event in the research and conservation of marine mammals in the Russian seas.
